Taman Ayung, meaning “beautiful garden,” is the second largest temple in Bali. The entire complex covers 6.9 hectares (17 acres),[2] a rectangular plot of land oriented north-south[3] and surrounded by expansive waters to the west, south, and east. The temple is accessible via a bridge on the south side.
The temple has three sections, typical of sacred temples: the outer courtyard (jabaan or Nista Mandala), the central courtyard (jaba tengah or Madia Mandala), and the inner sacred space (jeroan or jaba jero, or Utama Mandala). Each courtyard is separated by separate candi bentar (temple gates).
Located in the charming village of Mengwi in Bali, Taman Ayun Temple is a beautiful representation of Balinese architecture and culture. Whether you’re a history buff, a cultural explorer, or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, Taman Ayun Temple offers something unique. Our comprehensive guide will take you through its history, cultural significance, and tips to help you make the most of your visit. Dress Code: As with all temples in Bali, visitors are required to wear a sarong and sash, which can be rented at the entrance.
